It's been quite a while since I have written anything in this blog - my apologies. However, I was visiting a family in my church ('home teaching' for those who know what that is) a couple of months ago and their younger son mentioned writing poetry. I let him know I sometimes wrote poetry and he asked if I would write him a poem. I asked what he would like me to write a poem about and he quickly replied, "prayer." So, this is the poem I wrote for Cameron on prayer.
I wanted it to be something that was simple enough to be a child's prayer, yet represent important elements of prayer within it. Thank you, Cameron, for asking me to write about prayer in this way.

Cameron's Poem on Prayer
I close my eyes, my hands held tight
And pray to God with all my might.
I thank Thee, God, for all You give
For family, friends, for all that lives,
For prophets, teachers, leaders too
Who help me learn the truth from You.
Help me be good when it seems tough
And serve those who don't have enough.
Help me to be just like Thy Son
And feel the Spirit so we'll be one.
I'll listen now and do my part
To keep You here inside my heart.
I close in Jesus' name, amen
And can't wait 'til I pray again.
