Trevor wrote this one yesterday evening while listening to talks in our church's General Conference, when we hear leaders speak on a variety of topics.  I am glad he was inspired to write about fear and love.

Fear
As we fear, our spirits fall.
Fear is the power which influences all.
Fear of who we are and what we shall do;
With fear in our hearts, chaos ensues.
But fear is shattered when love is near,
Because "Perfect love casteth out fear...." (1 John 4:18)
Fear shall no longer inside us reign,
When we allow love within to remain.

Today, I unexpectedly felt like writing a poem about war.  Perhaps more specifically, I wrote it about those left behind while war calls others away. I was inspired by watching Testament of Youth, which was a hugely popular memoir written after WWI based on events during that period. Here is a poem I wrote off the cuff yesterday morning.  It's completely silly, but represented my time trying to figure out where all the socks went.  We've been collecting strays for a while, and with everyone else out of the house, absolutely all of the laundry is done.  So without further ado: Sock Monster. Sock Monster Sock Monster, Sock Monster!  Oh where dost thou dwell? Inside the dryer or beneath the stairwell? And what is so tasty in my family's socks that makes them delicious, like bagels with lox? And why is it socks and not shirts or a hat? (Oh - please eat the clothing that makes me look fat!) But No! You refuse to be helpful and nice. You only sneak socks, but not just once or twice. Clothes are all clean - unmatched socks, I've a dozen -  Could they all be from guests? From friends? Yesterday's Haiku Challenge with Word of the Day

Yesterday, my sisters challenged me to use several words in a haiku after seeing the 'word of the day'. The word was 'fipple', and they had rhymed cripple, triple, and ripple.
